My friend Tung, also a former classmate back in Germany, welcomed me there. He was so enthusiastic too to introduce his girlfriend to me. ;-) And I've heard the wedding is being planned. Wohoo! But speaking of weddings, I was in one on my second day which is really an experience (will detail it later).
I visited three historical sites there: The Citadel/the Forbidden Purple City, The Perfume Pagoda and the Tomb of Khai Dinh. All were interesting and brings you back in time where emperors and empresses are still leading the country. Then you will hear a Vietnamese tour guide explaining the citadel in German. SO, I decided to listen though it is somehow difficult to understand with the pronunciation. A German lady from Hamburg asked me if I understand German and why. Proudly I said, we lived for one year in Germany for a training. She seems quite impressed.
Then we moved on and then I realized that the dragon as depicted on the gates and walls is not blowing fire instead water. Interesting!
